I haven't done a Sunday Rambles in awhile and I have a little stockpile of things I'd like to share with you, so I thought I'd get going on these again!
I've started a little just-for-fun facebook page called Succulent Love. It's kind of a fan page for succulents + some information on how to care for them. It's growing really fast - I just knew there were people as crazy about succulents as I am!
I'm so excited it's October! Halloween is coming! I got this ridiculously cute doormat that's going to grace the front step all month.
I'm also savoring the last few weeks of the farmer's market. I found this incredibly helpful blog with monthly seasonal produce guides. Cookie and Kate, one of my favorite blogs, has a fun post on what to cook in October.
I helped some friends this weekend with their daughter's birthday party. They had a bunch of kids over and I brought all my cake decorating supplies and let them go nuts decorating cookies with a ridiculous amount of buttercream frosting. I also made this chocolate cake, and it was super delicious (I left out the espresso powder because I didn't know how it would go over with kids).
I got a new (to me) book on Friday that I stayed up way too late reading; I finished it in two days. I'd recommend it if you like dystopian fiction. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world, it's not horrifyingly sad or scary but it really elevates the mundane we take for granted in everyday life.
I'm planning on trying out a few recipes this week, and I like the looks of this chicken recipe from Half Baked Harvest. I also want to give these pumpkin whoopie pies a go. And, of course, I have to make Jaime Oliver's baked squash.
I hope you have a great week!
