Baked Trout

This delicious oven baked trout recipe is a great way to cook trout! It's bold flavor pairs perfectly with tasty spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds trout fillet
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Pat the trout dry with paper towels and place skin side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with the olive oil.

  • In a small bowl, combine the paprika, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, black pepper, oregano, and cayenne. Stir till combined. Sprinkle the seasoning blend over the fish and pat it in so it sticks.

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the trout reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F and flakes apart.

Notes

Cooking Tips - I suggest using a rimmed sheet pan so there's no spillage from this fish into the oven.
Cooking Time - If you have smaller or thinner fillets, you may need less cooking time. You can check doneness with an instant-read thermometer. Trout should reach 145 degrees F at its thickest point.
Recommended Tools - Line your pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil to keep the fish from sticking to the pan.
Storage - The baked trout can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three days.
