Kiwi Frankenstein

These super cute kiwi Frankensteins will be a hit with kids of all ages! They're a great healthy Halloween snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh kiwis
  • 8 small pretzel sticks
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • 16 candy eyes

Instructions

  • Cut each kiwi in half lengthwise. Using a small, sharp knife, cut ⅔ of the skin off, leaving 'hair' around the top of the kiwi. Cut the kiwi skin so the 'hairline' is jagged.

  • Break ½-inch end pieces off of each pretzel stick and press them into the sides of the kiwis.

  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in a small, microwave safe bowl. Stir till fully melted.

  • Using a toothpick or skewer, dab a little of the melted chocolate onto the backs of the candy eyes and affix them to the kiwis. Draw a mouth and scar onto each kiwi with the melted chocolate.

  • Serve immediately or chill in the fridge till the chocolate has hardened.

Notes

Storage - kiwi monsters will keep in the fridge for up to a day in an airtight container. The pretzels become a little soggy, so add those right before serving if possible.
Serving Tips - You can stick a skewer into the base of the kiwis and serve these as Frankenstein kiwi pops!
Specialty Ingredients - You can easily find candy eyes at Target and most larger grocery stores during September and October. They are also often available at Michael's, and I've found some on Amazon in the past as well.
