This fig and blackberry smash recipe is a delightful summer cocktail. I've been drinking a lot of smashes lately because I love a sweet, fruity cocktail.

Smash cocktails usually contain simple syrup or sweetener, a spirit, seasonal fruit, and ice. Often, smash recipes call for muddling the fruit. Some call for straining the fruit, and others add it all in.

What You'll Need to Make this Cocktail

  • 8 blackberries
  • 1 fig, quartered
  • 4 ounces bourbon
  • 2 ounces simple syrup
  • 3 cups crushed ice, divided

How to Make this Cocktail Recipe

  • Combine the blackberries, fig, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker and use a muddler to crush the blackberries and fig.
  • Add the bourbon and 1 cup of ice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  • Add the remaining ice to two highball glasses and strain the cocktail into the glasses.
  • Garnish with extra blackberries or edible flowers.
