Burrata & Avocado Caprese Salad
You know when you get those just right tomatoes, and when the store has Burrata cheese? The stars have aligned, and you think, yes, I will make a delicious caprese salad.
Certain dishes are a delight to photograph. The color works and the plate isn't weird and the lighting is nice. This is one of those dishes - I took about 100 photos, because I just love the way it looks.
Some days I stare at a plate and think, wow, there is not much I'm going to be able to do with this. Recently, I listened to Sally McKenney from Sally's Baking Addiction on the Food Blogger Pro Prodcast talk about how she will only take photos of pretty food. She actually won't put recipes on her blog that have yellow cheese, because it's too hard to photograph. I laughed quite awhile about that, but I get it. Some food, while tasting great, looks either dull or sickly on camera. So, you know, the next time I have a weirdo looking photo on here...just remember, some food cannot be tamed (tamed = photographed beautifully in natural light).
So, I'm going on vacation/a work trip tomorrow for 3 weeks and I cannot wait! I'm going to be spending a good deal of time in Chicago and I've got reservations for the first week I'm there at - Girl and the Goat, Blackbird, and The Publican. I will be taking my notebook with me everywhere to jot down recipe inspiration.
