  • 1 pound pound pasta
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 shallot, finely sliced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 ounces (2 pints) cherry tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ⅓ cup shredded parmesan
  • ¼ cup chopped basil

How to Make an Easy Pasta Recipe

This recipe comes together in less than 20 minutes. Here's what you'll need to do.

  1. Heat a large pot of salted water to boiling on the stovetop. Cook the pasta according to package directions. 
  2. Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add the olive oil and allow it to get very hot. 
  3. Add the shallots and the garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute before adding the cherry tomatoes. Stir the tomatoes to coat them in the oil and then allow them to sauté for 5 to 8 minutes or until most of them have burst. 
  4. Reserve ⅓ cup of pasta water before draining. 
  5. Combine the pasta with the reserved water, parmesan, and tomatoes, stirring until the parmesan is melted. Top with the basil and serve.
