This wonderful oven roasted asparagus couldn't be easier to make! Roasting brings out the best flavors, and you'll end up with lightly crispy but tender on the inside asparagus spears.
It's the perfect side dish for all kinds of meals! It pairs so well with seafood like our easy broiled salmon or this pan seared swordfish. Make it with roast chicken or flank steak for a date night meal.

Recipe Features
- Roasting asparagus brings out its natural flavors and cuts down on bitterness.
- This simple method couldn't be easier - it takes less than 10 minutes of hands-on time to get it ready and in the oven.
- Perfect for spring and early summer when asparagus is in season!
Ingredients
- Fresh Asparagus - fresh and flavorful spring asparagus tastes great! Asparagus is at its best from February through June, with April and May being peak months! While you can typically find asparagus year-round at the grocery store, in-season farmer's market asparagus is so unique!
- Oil - you can use olive oil, avocado oil, or another oil of your choosing. This will help the asparagus get nice and tender.
- Sea Salt - salt helps to bring out the natural flavors of the asparagus and makes it taste great. You can use kosher salt as well.
- Garlic Powder - I highly recommend using a little garlic powder on your asparagus - it adds a nice, subtle allium flavor.
- Ground Black Pepper - finally, round out the dish with a tiny amount of black pepper to add the slightest bit of heat.
See the recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Remove the woody ends from the asparagus by snapping them off.

- Step 2: Toss the asparagus with the oil, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper till each spear is coated. Place the asparagus on a parchment lined sheet pan in a single layer.

- Step 3: Roast for 15 minutes or until tender.
Tips for Making Asparagus
- Ingredients Tips - choose bright green asparagus with firm ends. If the ends of the asparagus are mushy or browning, it's past its prime and won't taste as good.
- Asparagus Storage - you can store fresh asparagus, before cooking, upright in a glass of water in the refrigerator. This keeps it crisp!
- Testing Doneness - to test the tenderness of the asparagus, you can poke it with a fork. If the fork easily pierces the asparagus, it's ready to come out of the oven. Thicker asparagus will need more time to roast than thinner asparagus (like the spears pictured in these photos).

Storage
Save leftover asparagus for up to 3 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Reheat in the microwave in 30-second increments till the desired temperature is reached.
