This viral recipe is a huge TikTok hit - it was originally shared by the "cucumber guy" Logan Moffit. Logan has been sharing videos of recipes for entire cucumber salads almost daily.

Logan is known for his fantastic Korean recipes, and I've been a follower and huge fan of his content for several years, so it's so exciting to see his recent huge success with this fun series!

Ingredients

Here's what you'll need to make a whole cucumber salmon salad!

A large English cucumber, smoked salmon, sliced red onion, cream cheese, dill, Everything bagel seasoning, salt, pepper, and capers on a plate.
  • Large Cucumber - you'll need a large English cucumber for this recipe. I recommend using an English cucumber over a regular, hothouse cucumber because they don't need to be peeled or deseeded. You could also use several small Persian cucumbers if you'd prefer.
  • Whipped Cream Cheese - the cream cheese adds great tangy flavor as well as creaminess. I highly recommend using whipped cream cheese instead of regular cream cheese because it's lighter and easier to mix with the cucumbers.
  • Smoked Salmon - you'll tear up or roughly chop some smoked salmon - it adds a huge amount of flavor to the salad, so I wouldn't recommend substituting it or leaving it out!
  • Red Onion - the sharp allium flavor of the red onion adds some kick to this salad. If you don't love strong onion flavors, you can always let the sliced onion rest in a bowl of cold water and ice for 5 minutes - this will dull some of the sharpness. The onion can be substituted for one sliced shallot if you'd prefer.
  • Capers - you'll use a small amount of salty capers for this recipe. Capers pack a powerful punch of flavor and add a little pickle flavor to the dish.
  • Fresh Dill - you'll need a little chopped dill for this recipe - it adds grassiness and herby flavor. It's essential for brightening up the dish overall.
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning - also called everything but the bagel seasoning, this fantastic mix combines sesame seeds, garlic, onion, and poppy seeds.
  • Salt and Pepper - add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. I think a flaky sea salt works very well in this recipe.
  • Optional Ingredient - in all of his cucumber recipes, Logan uses a sprinkle of MSG for additional umami! I didn't have any on hand, so I didn't use it this time.

Tips for Making this Recipe

Preparation Tips - If you've never used a mandolin to slice vegetables before, be very careful! The blade is extremely sharp, making it very easy to cut your finger. You can wear cut-proof gloves to protect your hands if you are concerned.

Specialty Ingredients - This recipe calls for smoked salmon. One thing to note is that it needs to be used within 4 to 5 days of opening the package. For this recipe, you'll use about half an average-sized packet of smoked salmon, so I recommend having a plan for how you'll use the rest of it!

Storage

I highly recommend eating this dish immediately after you make it so the cucumber is crispy! However, if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a day or two.
