Tips for Making this Recipe
Spice Tips - Store your spices in a cool, dark cabinet - preferably as far away from heat sources as possible. If you keep your spices in a cabinet next to the oven, stove, or other appliance that heats up, it can degrade the spices more quickly.
Type of Steak - you can make any cut of meat work for steak tacos if you cook it till tender and chop it, but I would definitely recommend using either flank steak or skirt steak. They are thinner cuts of meat that cook quickly and are reasonably priced.
Substitutions & Variations
- Less Spicy - swap the chili powder for red pepper flakes if you'd like a little less spice.
- More Spicy - add ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper if you want more heat.
- Sweetness - if you want a sweeter blend, add ½ teaspoon of brown sugar as well.
Storage
The homemade taco seasoning will keep for up to 3 months when stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.
