Vegan Chocolate Milkshake
Ummm. You are really going to like this delicious drink/dessert. This vegan chocolate milkshake is rich and creamy and refined sugar free!
I'm always looking for creamy dessert-like items that don't contain dairy. Dairy and my insides don't get along too well, but I'm so in love with mint chocolate chip ice cream that I try to make it work. On my smarter days, I make something like this drink - it hits all the high points and doesn't leave me feeling gross.
I've been working on making the transition to almond milk in my cereal, instead of cow's milk. I'm not nuts about it yet, but it's better than the alternative of no cereal. Do you hold on to anything like this - something you know you probably shouldn't be eating, but you do anyway? I bet most people do - whether from force of habit or because of comfort; we probably all have a few hang ups. I don't beat myself up over it (my stomach already does that for me!), but I do try to provide better options.
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 3 Medjool dates, pitted
- 2 very ripe bananas
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup almond milk
- 3 cups ice
- optional toppings - dried raspberries, cacao nibs, fresh fruit
