This is a really simple recipe - it's ready in less than 15 minutes! Here's how to make it.

  • Prep the asparagus - rinse the asparagus, snap off the ends, and toss it with the olive oil. Then sprinkle it with salt, pepper, and sumac.
  • Grill it - Heat a grill to medium heat. Once hot, lay the asparagus flat across the grill and cook for 5 to 10 minutes until grill marks appear. Flip it once while cooking.
  • Finish it - give it a squeeze of lemon juice and serve immediately.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch asparagus, woody ends removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground sumac
  • half a lemon

Instructions

  1. Heat a grill to medium heat (or a grill pan to medium-high on a stovetop).
  2. Toss the asparagus with olive oil and then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and sumac.
  3. Lay the spears flat on the grill and cook for 5 to 8 minutes or until tender and slightly charred.
  4. Place the asparagus on a serving plate and squeeze the lemon juice on top.
  5. Serve immediately.
