These apple monster mouths are a perfect after-school snack or addition to a Halloween party. The green apple monster mouths are easy to pull together and kids can help make them.

They all have uniquely goofball expressions - especially if you use the candy eyes and make their teeth a little wonky.

Ingredients You'll Need

Here's what you'll need to make some silly apple monsters!

Three apples, peanut butter, cheese, pumpkin seeds, and candy eyes sitting on a marble background.
  • 3 green apples
  • 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 2 ounces of sliced cheese (cheddar or Colby Jack both work)
  • 2 tablespoons of pumpkin or sunflower seeds
  • A package of candy eyes

How to Make Apple Monsters

Quarter the green apples and slice off the core and seeds. Carefully cut out a v-shape into the center of the apple quarter to create the mouth of the monster. Repeat with all the apple pieces.

Preparation Tips - The only tricky part of this recipe is cutting the mouth out of the quartered apple. This will need to be done by an adult, as it involves holding a knife at an angle.

Specialty Ingredients - I highly recommend using Wilton's candy eyes for this recipe. The eyeballs give the apple mouths such fun expressions!

Storage

The apples will brown after they've been sliced, so I would recommend serving these shortly after you make them. If you have leftovers or need to make them ahead of time, they will keep for up to 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
