This delightful Caprese wreath is a beautiful holiday recipe for a Christmas party or dinner!
This pretty dish is a great side salad or easy appetizer made with fresh ingredients. It's a great way to enjoy a classic caprese salad in a wreath shape.
A Caprese salad is a delicious Italian salad made with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. It's typically served in a plate or a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. But I'm showing you a fun way to present it at your next holiday party or meal.

This cute Caprese Christmas wreath is so fun to make and serve at a holiday meal. Make it up to 4 days ahead of time and take it to your next holiday party or prepare it in advance as an appetizer or beautiful side dish at your holiday dinner.
It will be welcomed onto any Christmas table!
Ingredients
Here's what you'll need to make this festive Caprese wreath.
- Fresh Tomatoes - Make sure to use juicy and ripe tomatoes. Heirlooms work best, but any large variety will work. I also like to sprinkle a few cherry tomatoes to add to the Christmas look.
- Balls of Fresh Mozzarella - You can use regular 8-ounce mozzarella balls, Ovaline balls, or bocconcini balls (mini mozzarella balls).
- Olive Oil - Extra virgin olive oil will give the best flavor.
- Balsamic Reduction - Balsamic reduction is also known as balsamic glaze. You can usually find it at the grocery store. If you don't have any on hand, you can make your own or use balsamic Vinegar.
- Flaky Sea Salt - Flaky sea salt works best for the added crunch, but regular sea salt will also work. Just shake it on to your preference.
- Fresh Herbs - I prefer a mix of fresh basil leaves, oregano, and rosemary for flavor and texture, but you can use what you have on hand. I strongly recommend including basil.
See the recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Use a sharp knife to slice the tomatoes and mozzarella cheese into rounds on a cutting board.
Arrange the tomato slices and mozzarella slices into the shape of a wreath on a large plate or round platter, alternating the tomatoes and mozzarella.
Place basil leaves in between the tomatoes and mozzarella and oregano and rosemary around and under the Caprese wreath. Sprinkle the sliced cherry tomatoes around the wreath.
Sprinkle the sea salt over the wreath and pour on a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze. Optional - sprinkle black pepper over the wreath if you'd like as well.
Serve immediately.
Substitutions & Variations
You can substitute the cherry tomatoes for your favorite type of olives.
A fun variation is to use smaller size mozzarella balls and add the tomatoes, mozzarella and herbs to mini skewers and place them in a circle like I do in this Antipasto Christmas Wreath recipe.
