Grilled Chicken Wings

These are the best grilled chicken wings! They're made with a fantastic combination of spices and grilled to crispy perfection.

You'll love the flavor and crispy skin on these wings. They're great for dipping or you can top them with some barbecue sauce or hot sauce.

Grilling chicken wings is the best way to cook them! It's the easiest way to make them and results in such great flavor.

You can make this recipe on a gas grill or charcoal grill - if possible, I do suggest making this recipe on an outdoor grill as it can get smoky! You can make it on a grill pan on the stovetop though.

This chicken wing recipe is great for a party or as an appetizer for game day.

Ingredients

Here's what you'll need to make this chicken wings recipe and dry rub.

Raw chicken wings, olive oil, and spices.
  • Chicken Wings*
  • Kosher Salt
  • Ground Mustard
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Paprika
  • Dried Thyme
  • Dried Oregano
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Vegetable Oil

*You can use whole wings, but I prefer buying them already cut into drumettes and flats (also called wingettes).

Instructions

Combine the salt, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, oregano, and black pepper in a small bowl. Stir to combine. 

Pat the wings dry and add them to the large bowl or gallon-sized zip-top bag. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Toss till wings are coated.

Add the seasoning mixture and toss to coat the wings.

Allow the wings to rest for 20 minutes in the marinade.

Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Using a brush or a paper towel and tongs, brush the oil onto the grill grates. 

Place the chicken wings on the grill and allow them to cook for 10 minutes.

Then flip them over and allow them to cook for another 5 to 8 minutes until the skin is crispy and the wings reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F on an instant read thermometer.

Allow the wings to rest for a few minutes before serving.
